Pepper spray took center stage in a new Bicycling.com article, What to Know About Cycling with Pepper Spray. "Unleashing red-hot irritants on an aggressive person, dog, or otherwise can give you just enough time to escape a hairy situation," begins Bicycling writer A.C. Shilton. This statement couldn't be more true.
Shilton consulted SABRE to learn how to choose the right pepper spray. We recommended a stream delivery, "that helps minimize wind blow-back and contamination of yourself and bystanders." SABRE is taking this focus on greater spray contrainment one step further during 2016: Our Runner and Duathlete models are now available in gel. Pepper gel offers the same police strength that SABRE is known for, but with additional benefits.
Pepper gel virtually eliminates airborne particles and wind blow-back, only affecting the target/person it directly contacts. These benefits make pepper gel ideal for outdoor use, with reduced chances of wind causing the spray to affect innocent parties, including the user. Gel also offers protection at an even safer distance with its increased range: Gel reaches 20% farther than traditional pepper spray.
The Duathlete Pepper Gel with Adjustable Arm Band ($17.99) now features a more compact size, still incorporating the reflective armband to maximize visibility. Perfect for both runners and cyclists, the Duathlete also provides greater protection at a safe distance with the product’s 45 bursts at up to 12 feet away.
The Bicycling.com article also plugs our Cyclist Pepper Spray with Adjustable Bike Strap ($13.99). "[SABRE] actually makes a spray for cyclists that Velcros directly to your bike's frame," says Shilton. "This minimizes fumbling in the heat of the moment, and it reduces the likelihood of accidentally discharging the spray."
