Spring break presents plenty of social opportunities for the college student - but it also brings unique risks. Keep in mind these top three tips for safety when it comes to communicating with others on spring break.
Be smart about who you give personal information out to - don't tell new acquaintances your hotel or room number. You never know who has innocent or dangerous intentions.
If you need help, ask for it! If there's an emergency, don't rely on a bystander to call for help. Do it yourself to be sure the first responders, police or other needed party get the message. When it comes to requesting assistance, it's better safe than sorry.
Don't overshare on social media. Disable geotagging on your posts and when in doubt, opt to post photos or observations only after you've moved to a new location.
