Wildlife officials are recommending that hikers "carry bear spray and be ready to use it quickly," following a bear attack in Idaho.
A 60-year-old woman was walking with her dogs when a bear charged and bit her head, side, and abdomen. Despite considerable blood loss, the injuries were not life-threatening. The woman was flown to a Spokane, WA hospital and will recover. The dogs have been treated by a veterinarian and will also recover.
Officials believe woman's dogs startled the bear, who was with her cub in a huckleberry patch.
